Programs

CDS Insurance has developed and implemented various insurance programs for the Building Industry Association (BIA), California Building Industry Association (CBIA), and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) since 1982.

BIA/SC Workers’ Comp Insurance Program

CDS has an endorsed Workers’ Comp program exclusive to Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA/SC) members. The program was written by an A-Rated admitted insurer. BIA/SC members are eligible for a 5% additional discount.

Artisan Trade Contractors

There are several programs available for subcontractors, depending upon their specific trade, type of projects, prior experience and claims history.

HBW 2-10 Home Buyer Warranty Program

Designed for General Contractors building single family homes, this program combines General Liability insurance with a Builder's Risk policy and Home Warranty program for a comprehensive risk management program.

BIA/SC Group Medical Insurance Program

BIA members are eligible to participate in California Advantage, a highly flexible "choice" plan offering both HMO and POS options with multiple insurance carriers. Each employee can choose their own plan design and insurer, while still participating in their employer's group health plan.

Condo/Townhouse Wrap-up Liability Programs

Due to the lack of insurance companies providing Liability insurance to subcontractors involved in multi-family projects, most Condo or Townhouse projects must be insured on a "Wrap-Up" basis. This approach includes the designation of the General Contractor and all tiers of subcontractors as "insureds" for insurance purposes. Typically, the insurance costs are borne by all contractors participating in the program, based upon a pre-determined schedule or formula. Most general liability policies will automatically exclude coverage for any projects in which a Wrap-Up policy exists.
